February 3 - amazing that this is the anniversary of this ‘day that music died’ – the plane crash in Cedar Lake Iowa that killed Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and the Big Bopper, J. P. Richardson.  Waylon Jennings gave his seat on that flight to Richardson, who was running a fever.  Sadly we hear that Waylon Jennings is haunted to this day about that twist of fate.  Fifty years ago today: 1959.  Wished we all could have been at the commemorative concert.

And then Don McLean’s landmark 1971 tune “American Pie” forever identify the tragedy of the Day the Music Died), Buddy Holly was just 22, and he is the shortest-lived artist ever to win a Grammy for lifetime achievement.  Some say Buddy Holly was the model for the Beatles.  So please remember these legends today for just a moment.  Everyone, pace yourself and I will do same.  Adios
